Todoist Reminders

Todoist has so many great features, and reminders are so amazing! Todoist can set reminders for time or location, so that as soon as you get somewhere it will alert you of something you need to do! I no longer walk all the way upstairs to my classroom before I realize I forgot to grab my radio from the office – because as soon as I park my car, the app alerts me to grab a radio!

I never miss a show, a meeting, or forget to grab something with reminders. Todoist can be set to remind you before an event occurs, in a certain time frame like ‘remind me to put clothes in the dryer in 30 minutes’, or location based!

PS – This shows the desktop notification, but it also pushes through my phone, watch, and tablet!

Ideas to Use Todoist Reminders in the Classroom

  • field trips
  • Guest speakers/presentations
  • Things you need to grab from the office
  • Things you need to turn into the office (*cough* attendance and lunch count *cough*)
  • Time to line up for lunch, recess, or any other transitions

How to Set Up Todoist Reminders

This is a premium feature, so if you’re on the free version it won’t work. PS – the pro version is 36$ a year (or something close to that – totally worth it!)

  • Time Based:
    • As you’re scheduling, use an exclamation point to indicate when you want reminded: for instance, !3minutes will remind you in 30 minutes
    • As you’re scheduling, click the ‘reminder’ button. Select an option from the list or pick your own!
  • Location Based:
    • As you’re scheduling, click the ‘location’ button.
    • Type an address or select one from your recently used list!

  • Why can’t I find the reminders buttons?
    • Reminders are a paid feature – so if you aren’t seeing them, you’re likely on the free plan. The pro plan is about 36$ a year (as of the time of this blog post), so it’s totally affordable and worth it in my opinion!
